The Big Bear Valley Trails Foundation will celebrate the kickoff of construction on the Skyline Trail and premiere the award-winning documentary Pedal-Driven on Saturday, June 2, 2012.
Skyline Trail, the first new trail in the Big Bear Lake area in almost 2 decades, is a 15 mile world-class multi-use single track planned along the top of the San Bernardino Mountains between the Big Bear and Santa Ana River Valleys in the San Bernardino National Forest. Skyline will offer stunning panoramic views, promote responsible forest stewardship, and attract visitors from far and wide.
Complimenting the kickoff celebration is the Inland Empire premiere of “Pedal Driven,” a documentary film focusing on social and environmental issues of national importance – how we determine legitimate and acceptable uses of our public lands. The film’s goal is to engage Americans in a constructive and collaborative dialogue about where trail use belongs in the American landscape.
The trail celebration, titled “Kick and Flick”, will take place at Northwoods Resort located at 40650 Village Drive, Big Bear Lake, CA, 92315. The free event will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will include complimentary food, movie refreshments, and a no-host bar. A trailer for the movie can be seen at: http://pedaldriven.howellatthemoon.com/videostrailers.
The Skyline Trail is a collaboration of the Big Bear Valley Trails Foundation, the San Bernardino National Forest, and the International Mountain Biking Association.
